Meta is putting $14.3 billion into the AI company Scale and has hired its CEO, Alexandr Wang, to work on Meta's advanced AI team. This is part of Mark Zuckerberg's plan to make Meta's AI better, as they are competing with companies like Google and OpenAI. Scale will still be its own company, but this agreement will make the business connection between them much stronger, giving Meta almost half of Scale. Wang will move to Meta with a small group but will stay on Scale's board, and Jason Droege will become the temporary CEO. This investment means Scale is worth more than $29 billion. It's not clear what this deal will mean for Scale's other clients, like General Motors, Toyota, and other big language model companies.
