Amazon has announced a new warehouse robot, named Vulcan, which is designed to sense some of the objects it comes into contact with.
The Vulcan robot has two arms. It works in Amazon's warehouses to move things in storage areas. It has sensors to feel when it touches something. One arm moves things around in a section, and the other arm has a camera and a suction cup to pick up things.
Amazon says the robot called Vulcan learned using information about things like force and touch. It can choose about 75% of Amazon's items. Amazon also says it can get better by itself over time. This robot is working in Spokane, Washington, and Hamburg, Germany. It has already prepared half a million orders there.
Vulcan is Amazon's newest robot for their warehouses. Amazon uses many robots to get customer orders ready in their storage buildings around the world. Some people say Amazon buys robots to get rid of workers, but Amazon says robots like Vulcan just make their warehouses safer.
