Google's app for iPhones has a new tool called "Simplify". This tool uses AI to make hard words and ideas on websites easier to read. You can use it without leaving the website.
Simplify helps make difficult text easier to understand.
Google wants people to use its tools, like Simplify, to understand difficult things. They hope people will not use other tools like ChatGPT.
To use Simplify, choose any words on a webpage you see in the Google app. Then, press the "Simplify" button. You will then see an easier version of the words. This helps you understand the information and keep reading.
Google's blog shows an example of this feature. For example, you might read: "This health problem hurts the lungs in many ways. It damages the lung tissue, makes scars, changes the lung cells, increases chemicals that affect the body's defenses, and changes the blood vessels in the lungs."
This difficult health problem hurts the lungs. Emphysema damages the small air sacs in the lungs. Also, the lung tissue gets a lot of scars. This is called fibrosis. The body's defence cells in the lungs change. The body makes more things that control the defence system. The blood tubes in the lungs also change a lot.
Google says this feature helps people understand difficult things easily when they are learning online.
Google said they want computer programs that can rewrite difficult ideas correctly. The new writing should help people understand hard things without changing the main information.
Simplify will be available for iOS users this week.
