TikTok is adding reviews for some places in video comments so you can learn about them easily.
If you have this new feature on TikTok, you will see a new "Reviews" button on the right when you open the video's comments.
For example, if you watch a video of Central Park in New York City and the person who made it put the location, you can see how people rated the place with stars, what they wrote about it, and their photos, if they put any.
You can click on a reviewer's name to see their TikTok page. This is different from the old Google Maps feature.
Some people will like the new part, but others may feel it makes the screen too busy when they are looking at things.
TikTok wants to help people find information, like Google does.
In 2022, someone at Google said that young people were using TikTok more than Google Search and Maps. Today, TikTok is competing with Google in different areas.
Also, TikTok is very popular for young people searching for places. Last year, TikTok also added a way to search using pictures. Users can take or upload a photo to find similar things to buy in the TikTok Shop.
In September 2024, TikTok started letting companies show their ads on the search page. When people search for things, they can see ads there.
We don't know if TikTok will let more people use the reviews part. The company didn't want to say anything before our story came out. But when we tried it, we saw that only some videos with a place tagged showed the reviews.
