Amazon says its new robot, Vulcan, can feel some things it touches in the warehouse.
The robot called Vulcan has two arms that can move things in Amazon's storage areas. It has sensors to feel when it touches something. One arm moves items, and the other arm, which has a camera and can grab things, picks them up.
Amazon says the robot Vulcan learned using information about touching and holding objects. It can pick about 75% of Amazon's items. Vulcan can also get better at its job by itself. The robot is working in two places: Spokane, USA, and Hamburg, Germany. It has already helped with half a million orders.
Vulcan is the newest robot in Amazon's warehouses. Amazon uses a large number of robots to prepare and ship customer orders around the world. Some people believe Amazon is trying to replace human workers with robots, but Amazon claims that robots like Vulcan actually improve safety in their warehouses.
