Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts will likely miss the rest of the season.
He has blood clots in his lungs.
A person who knows about the situation said this on Monday.
The person spoke to reporters but did not give their name.
They did this because health matters are private.
The Eagles put Hurts on injured reserve on Saturday.
This was two days after the team said he has a blood clot in his calf.
He missed the first of at least four games on Sunday.
The Eagles lost to the Carolina Panthers.
The Eagles and Hurts' agent, Nicole Lynn, said on Monday that Hurts has deep vein thrombosis and a bilateral pulmonary emboli.
This means a blood clot moved from his legs to his lungs.
His treatment uses blood thinners.
He cannot do any football activities until he stops taking them.
The Eagles and Lynn said Hurts should get fully better.
Their statement said he is stable and can still do normal things.
The Eagles said before that Hurts was hurt on Oct. 4 against the Los Angeles Rams.
He got hit on the calf by a cleat.
Tanner McKee started in his place against the Panthers.
He completed 26 of 45 passes for 215 yards and a touchdown.
The Eagles lost 25-14.
The Eagles are now 2-4.
They have lost four games in a row for the first time since 2020.
