Dodgers manager Dave Roberts moved Shohei Ohtani to the No. 5 spot in the lineup.

This was for Tuesday night's Game 3 of the NL Division Series.

The Dodgers played the Atlanta Braves.

Roberts said it was a one-game change.

He wanted to give the Dodgers a different look against Braves left-hander Chris Sale.

The best-of-five series was tied 1-1.

Ohtani went 0 for 4 with two strikeouts on Aug. 26.

Sale shut out the Dodgers 1-0 in that game.

For his career, Ohtani is 3 for 15 against Sale.

He has no homers and 1 RBI against him.

The No. 5 spot is the lowest Ohtani has hit since 2020 with the Angels.

Mookie Betts hit leadoff on Tuesday.

Freddie Freeman hit second.

Roberts said he talked with Ohtani about the move on Monday night.

The four-time MVP "completely understood."

Roberts said Ohtani told him he had planned to ask to hit seventh in September.

This shows he wants to help the team.

Roberts said the change was not a sign of things to come.

It was just for Tuesday.

Ohtani hit .275 with 30 homers and 81 RBIs in the regular season.

He had two hits and two strikeouts in eight at-bats in the first two games.

Roberts said Ohtani has been chasing pitches.

He will keep seeing pitches off the plate until he shows restraint.

Roberts said he does not expect Ohtani to hit fifth in Wednesday's Game 4.
