Shohei Ohtani, the famous Japanese baseball player, has made history for the Dodgers. He is now only the third player in the team's history to hit 20 home runs in the first 55 games of the season. This achievement puts Ohtani in the same group as Gil Hodges and Cody Bellinger. It is also the 64th time a player in the Major Leagues has done this in the same period, and the first since Pete Alonso of the New York Mets in 2023. Ohtani, who has been named MVP three times and leads the major leagues in home runs, hit a two-run home run in a game against the Cleveland Guardians. This was his fourth home run to the opposite side of the field this season. What is impressive is that even when Ohtani does not hit the ball perfectly, it can still become a home run. He has also hit home runs in three games in a row twice this season. Ohtani, a four-time All-Star, has hit at least 12 home runs in a month three times since he joined the Dodgers.
