The Formula 1 team Alpine changed its drivers. Franco Colapinto will drive in the next five races instead of Jack Doohan.
Alpine said on Wednesday that Flavio Briatore will be the new boss after Oliver Oakes left.
Colapinto will race with Pierre Gasly from the Emilia-Romagna race.
After six races, the Alpine team is in ninth place in the Formula 1 competition for teams. The next race is from May 16 to 18 in Imola.
At the Miami Grand Prix on Sunday, Doohan hit another car at the start of the race. Then, he crashed on the second lap.
Before the Miami race, Oakes said the news about changing drivers was not true. He said the new driver from Australia would stay in the car.
Doohan will be the team's extra driver again.
Jack Doohan's father, Mick Doohan, won the motorcycle world championship five times. Jack drove in his first Formula 1 race at the end of 2024. This year, he started the season for Alpine at the first race in Australia. He took the place of Esteban Ocon, who left Alpine because he was not happy with his results in 2024.
Colapinto started working as a reserve driver for Alpine in January. Before that, he drove for Williams in 2024. He got five points because he took Logan Sargeant's place in August.
