Unhappiness has gone up to a record 67%.

Politics is one reason for this drop.

Democrats are less happy.

Their happiness fell about 19 points since President Donald Trump’s second term began in 2025.

Independents and Republicans are also less happy.

Experts say the Trump administration makes people trust schools less.

It treats schools like political battlegrounds.

It also moves to close the Education Department.

Politics is not the only reason.

Public trust has fallen since COVID-19 closed classrooms.

Reports say test scores are going down.

People talk about technology and AI in schools.

These things make the mood worse.

One researcher said people are angry with institutions in general.

Parents still like their own children’s schools more.

About two-thirds of parents with school-age children are happy with their child’s education.

That is double the number for all adults.

Experts say parents judge their own schools.

Other adults judge schools they have never visited.
