Several major films premiered Tuesday at the Venice Film Festival.

One was Alex Gibney’s documentary “Musk,” which runs nearly four hours.

It examines the power and influence of the world’s richest man.

Gibney said he started as an admirer and hoped Musk would agree to an interview.

Musk did not, and Gibney said the facts led him to overturn the myth of Musk as a modern Leonardo da Vinci.

The film is set for North American theaters in October.

Another premiere was “Bunker,” a thriller written and directed by Florian Zeller.

It stars Javier Bardem as an architect asked to design a bunker for a tech billionaire, played by Paul Dano.

Bardem’s wife, played by Penélope Cruz, questions him about the project.

Zeller said the film explores fear of the future and social inequality through a couple’s personal struggle.

He wrote it for Cruz and Bardem, who have acted together many times.

Cruz praised the film for showing an authentic bilingual household, speaking Spanish at home while living in London.

She said audiences were ready for this, but financiers were harder to convince until recently.

Casey Affleck also debuted his film “Company,” which he directed and co-wrote.

It is a meditation on grief and compassion set in winter 1975, when a mysterious woman disrupts a holiday gathering.

Affleck said he was responding to world conflicts and personal feelings, though the film is not explicitly political.

His children appear in it, and he dedicated it to his parents, who both died this year and never saw it.

“Company” is competing for the Golden Lion, with winners announced Saturday.
