Actor Will Forte thought “Coyote vs. Acme” must have been bad when Warner Bros. canceled it.

He and his wife went to a private screening with the cast and crew to say goodbye.

Forte said the film was special.

That made the cancellation frustrating and devastating.

Warner Bros. CEO David Zaslav decided not to spend $30-40 million on marketing.

The studio took a tax write-off on the $70 million production instead.

The film was shelved along with “Batgirl” and “Scoob! Holiday Haunt.”

Nearly three years later, the movie is back.

After public outcry, Warner Bros. sold it to Ketchup Entertainment for about $50 million.

It will be released on Aug. 28.

Voice actor Eric Bauza said he did not believe it until he saw the poster at his local cinema.

The film’s story mirrors its fate.

In the movie, Wile E. Coyote sues Acme over defective products.

Director Dave Green said the film now has a meta quality.

Filmmakers and politicians campaigned for its release.

Bauza even pleaded for it at the Annie Awards in the voice of Daffy Duck.

Green said the ordeal showed that artists will keep creating.

Forte said the experience taught him to trust no one but also to not give up hope.
