JetZero's $4.7 Billion North Carolina Plant: Plans for 14,500 New Jobs

Die Firma JetZero Inc. aus Kalifornien möchte in North Carolina eine Fabrik für ihr neues Passagierflugzeug bauen. Das könnte in den nächsten zehn Jahren über 14.500 neue Arbeitsplätze in der Gegend schaffen. JetZero plant, 4,7 Milliarden Dollar in die Fabrik am Flughafen von Greensboro zu investieren, um das Z4-Flugzeug herzustellen. Dieses Flugzeug soll bis zu 50% weniger Treibstoff verbrauchen als normale Passagierflugzeuge. United Airlines und Alaska Airlines haben das Projekt schon finanziell unterstützt und zugesagt, die Flugzeuge später zu kaufen. Zum Projekt gehört auch ein Forschungszentrum für besondere Materialien. Es könnte bis in die 2060er Jahre staatliche und lokale Fördergelder von bis zu 2,35 Milliarden Dollar bekommen. JetZero möchte die Flugzeuge ab Anfang der 2030er Jahre einsetzen und 20 Flugzeuge pro Monat bauen. Zuerst wird sich die Firma auf ein Flugzeug mit etwa 250 Sitzen und einer Reichweite von 9.260 Kilometern konzentrieren.
