JetZero, a company from California, has announced plans to build a new factory in North Carolina for its advanced passenger plane. This could create more than 14,500 jobs in the area over the next ten years. The company plans to invest $4.7 billion in the factory at Greensboro airport to make its Z4 aircraft. This plane has a special wing design that is expected to use up to 50% less fuel than regular planes. United Airlines and Alaska Airlines have already invested in the project and have agreed to buy the planes if certain conditions are met. The project also includes a research center for new materials and could get over $2.35 billion in financial help from the state and local government by the 2060s. JetZero hopes its planes will be flying by the early 2030s, making 20 planes every month. The company will first focus on a commercial plane with about 250 seats that can fly 5,000 nautical miles.
