Warner Bros. Discovery is going to divide its cable TV business from its streaming service. This will create two separate companies because more and more people are stopping their cable subscriptions. The streaming and studios company will include HBO, Warner Bros. Television and Film, and DC Studios. The cable company will have CNN, TNT Sports in the U.S., Discovery, and major free TV channels in Europe. It will also offer online products like Discovery+ and Bleacher Report. David Zaslav, the CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery, will be in charge of the Streaming & Studios company. Gunnar Wiedenfels, who is currently the CFO, will become the CEO of the cable company, which will be called Global Networks. They expect this separation to be completed by the middle of next year, if the board gives its final approval. This important change is happening because the cable TV industry is facing more difficulties due to streaming services and other internet choices.
