President Trump decided to put more taxes on steel and aluminum from other countries. This could make food more expensive for people in America. These metals are often used to package products, so many things you buy could cost more. An expert on trade, Usha Haley, says these taxes could cause problems for different businesses and for America's relationships with other countries. Trump says these taxes will help the steel industry in the US. But this might go against his promise to make food cheaper. The new taxes on steel and aluminum could affect many products, like food in cans, drinks, and pet food. Robert Budway, who is the head of the Can Manufacturers Institute, says this could help companies from other countries sell canned food for less money than American companies.
