Important people from the U.S. and China have agreed to start their trade talks again. The talks almost stopped because of some problems, but now they will continue.

The announcement happened after two days of talks in London. These talks finished late on Tuesday.

The meetings were about solving disagreements over selling minerals and technology. These disagreements had made a recent trade agreement from Geneva weaker. We don't know if they made progress on the main problems, like China selling much more to the US than it buys.

First, we had to get rid of the bad feelings, and now we can go ahead,

Stocks in Asia went up on Wednesday because they heard about the agreement.

The talks happened after President Trump and China's leader, Xi Jinping, talked on the phone last week to try to make things calmer.

Li Chenggang, a Chinese trade official, said that China and the other country agreed on a plan. This plan is about what they talked about on the phone and in meetings in Geneva. Xinhua News Agency reported this.

We don't have more information right now, like if they will talk again in the future.

Li and Wang Wentao, who is China's trade minister, were with Vice Premier He Lifeng. They met with Lutnick, Scott Bessent, and Jamieson Greer at Lancaster House, which is an old house near Buckingham Palace.

Wendy Cutler, who was a trade negotiator for the U.S., said that 30 of the 90 days were wasted because of arguments, and they still need to solve their problems.

In Geneva, they agreed to stop most of the very high taxes they had put on each other for 90 days. This was because of a trade war that made people afraid of a bad economy. Also, the World Bank said on Tuesday that the US and world economy will not grow as much this year, because of more trade problems.

Cutler, who works at the Asia Society Policy Institute, said that the U.S. and China lost important time to fix their agreements from Geneva. He added that they only have two months left to deal with problems like unfair trade, making too many products, sending goods through other countries, and the drug fentanyl.

Since their meeting, the U.S. and China have argued a lot. They disagreed about computer chips for AI, visas for Chinese students in America, and important minerals for cars and other businesses.

China makes many rare earth elements. They might allow more exports of these elements. China wants the U.S. to let them use technology for making modern computer chips.

Lutnick said that fixing the rare earths problem is a very important part of their plan. He said the U.S. will remove some things it had put in place because of this. He didn't say what those things were.

He said that when they approve the licenses, our exports will probably go down.

Cutler said it would be very unusual for the U.S. to discuss its rules for selling goods to other countries. She said China has been complaining about these rules for almost 20 years.

She said that because of this, the U.S. has let China ask to add export rules to future talks.

A court in Washington said on Tuesday that the government can continue to collect special taxes on goods from China and other countries. This is happening while the government tries to win an appeal about Trump's trade rules.

Trump said he wants to sell more American products in China, because China makes many things for the world.

Trump spoke at the White House. He said, "If we don't open China, maybe we won't do anything." He also said, "But we want to open China."
