However, what people expect for their income, business, and job market in the near future is still below 80, which might mean a recession is coming. The Labor Department reported that 177,000 jobs were added in April, which helped improve confidence. But, concerns about tariffs and rising prices were still strong in the survey. Despite these concerns, people still planned to spend more on homes, cars, and holidays.
