Rescue teams and military helicopters searched Thursday for hundreds of missing people along the Nepal-China border.

A wall of water and mud swept through communities a day earlier after a glacier collapsed.

Police said more than 360 people were killed and over 1,400 were missing.

The missing include many foreigners and pilgrims.

Nepal reported at least 910 missing.

Authorities in Tibet reported at least three dead and 558 missing.

Nepalese officials said dozens of bridges were destroyed and nearly 40 kilometers of roads were damaged.

The Nepalese army has rescued more than 100 people by helicopter.

China’s premier, Li Qiang, arrived Thursday in Tibet’s Gyirong area to direct rescue efforts.

About 500 military and paramilitary personnel joined him.

Chinese authorities warned that a newly formed lake at a river meeting point may burst.

The U.N. released $2 million for emergency aid, calling the floods “horrifying.”

Among the missing are 517 foreigners, according to Nepal’s tourism board.

They include 178 people from India and more than 60 from the U.S.

Many may have been on a pilgrimage to Mount Kailash.

The U.S. State Department said 90 Americans are unaccounted for.

Climate experts said an avalanche from a glacier likely caused the flash flood.
