On Monday, Thailand started limiting who can cross its land borders. For example, tourists can't go into Cambodia. This is because the two countries are disagreeing about their border, and are doing similar things to each other.
After a fight on May 28, the two countries' relationship became worse. A Cambodian soldier died in this fight over a small piece of land that both countries wanted. The countries said they would try to make the situation calmer, but they are still doing things that make people feel worried.
On Monday, Thailand's Prime Minister, Paetongtarn Shinawatra, said that Thailand will check people more carefully at its borders. They will not let tourists leave. Only students, people who need medical help, and people who need to buy important things can enter or leave Thailand.
She said they wanted to stop people from going to the casinos in Cambodia, but it looked like all visitors would be stopped.
The Thai army said on Monday that they have started new rules at all border crossings between Thailand and Cambodia in five areas. Now, only people who really need to cross the border can do so.
Cambodia stopped using some Thai internet services. They also stopped getting electricity and fuel from Thailand because of a problem at their border. Before this, Cambodia bought 30% of its fuel from Thailand.
Paetongtarn said on Monday that Thailand will consider stopping exports that help scams in Cambodia. They will also work with other countries and groups to stop online crime in Southeast Asia.
Earlier this year, Thailand worked to stop online scams in Myanmar. They stopped the electricity, internet, and gas in towns near the border where the scams were.
In April, the U.N. said Cambodia is a place where many scams happen. People working there use the internet to trick others. They pretend to be in love, offer fake investments, or run illegal gambling.
Some people have criticized Paetongtarn. They think she is too soft on Cambodia. These people are often right-wing nationalists who have always been against her father, Thaksin Shinawatra. He used to be the Prime Minister.
Last week, a phone call between Paetongtarn and Hun Sen became public. This made many people angry. Hun Sen was the leader of Cambodia for more than 40 years. Because of the call, some people want Paetongtarn to leave her job.
Some people did not like that she tried to please Hun Sen, who was her father's old friend. They said she made Thailand seem weak because she called a Thai army leader at the border her "opponent." Some groups of activists are planning a protest this week. They want Paetongtarn to leave her position.
