The Air India plane crash, which killed 241 people, had only one survivor, Vishwashkumar Ramesh. This unusual event started many online discussions about how rare it is for only one person to survive such a disaster. Ramesh was reportedly thrown from the plane and, despite being confused and having many injuries, managed to walk to an ambulance for help. There have been similar cases in the past. For example, Cecelia Crocker survived a 1987 crash that killed 154 people, including her family, when the plane hit a light pole during takeoff. George Lamson Jr. survived a 1985 crash in Reno, and Bahia Bakari lived through a Yemenia Airways flight crash near the Comoro Islands in 2009. Also, Jim Polehinke was the only person to survive a 2006 Comair flight crash in Lexington, Kentucky.
