In-person voting for the U.S. midterm elections began Friday.

This opens the final six weeks before the Nov. 3 vote.

Election officials say they are ready and sure the vote will be correct and safe.

Still, President Donald Trump keeps criticizing some voting methods.

He also keeps trying to change how elections are run.

Early in-person voting started Friday in Virginia.

Voters in a few other states can now vote early in person.

These states include Minnesota and South Dakota.

More early voting will start in those states and others in the coming weeks.

The election includes votes for governor and state legislature in most states.

It will also decide if Republicans keep control of the U.S. House and Senate.

If Democrats retake Congress, it would change the last two years of Trump's term.

It would likely lead to investigations and other oversight.

Voters talked about many concerns.

These include rising gas and grocery prices, the war in Iran, artificial intelligence and Trump's immigration enforcement.

In Minneapolis, Dragan Colakovic said he voted early.

He feared being stopped by immigration agents.

In Virginia, Laura Bland said she voted early to send "a signal that we're still here."
