The defense rested its case Friday in the trial of Lindsay Clancy, who is accused of murdering her three young children.
Prosecutors then began calling rebuttal witnesses.
Closing arguments are expected next week.
Clancy, 36, has pleaded not guilty to murder charges.
Her children, aged 8 months to 5 years, were found strangled in the basement of their Massachusetts home in January 2023.
Clancy jumped from a second-story window after the killings and is paralyzed from the waist down.
Prosecutors argue she planned the killings.
Clancy’s lawyer does not dispute that she killed the children.
He argues she should not be held criminally responsible due to postpartum psychosis, a rare mental illness linked to childbirth.
The defense called family members who detailed her worsening mental health.
They also called Dr. Phillip Resnick, a forensic psychiatrist, who testified that Clancy was “clearly psychotic” and not in control of her actions on the day of the killings.
Resnick said Clancy reported hearing a voice commanding her to kill her children.
He said she had a delusional belief that her children would be better off dying with her and going to heaven.
He said she believed she was doing what was right for her children.
Prosecutors challenged this view, arguing that Clancy was receiving treatment but was not suffering from psychosis.
