On Monday, they found the last person from the boat. The boat turned over in the lake because of a big storm. Eight people died.
On Saturday, a boat with ten people turned over in the lake. The weather was bad, and there were big waves. The U.S. Coast Guard said this.
Two people were saved and went to the hospital. We don't know if they are okay. Six dead people were found on Saturday. One more dead person was found on Sunday. The police said this. Divers looked in the lake and found the last dead person on Monday.
Kyle Parker said we cannot say the names of the people who died yet. We need to tell their families first.
Some people have died in the lake by accident in the last few years. But boat accidents with many deaths are not common. The police said about six people die in the lake every summer. In 2021, 15 people died. The police do not have new numbers yet.
The storm was very strong. It surprised everyone, even the weather people. They thought it would rain a little. But it rained a lot near the lake at 3 p.m. Matthew Chyba from the weather office said the wind was strong. The waves were big.
Chyba said, "We thought it was not strong."
He said it was very cold. This made the air strange.
The waves on Lake Tahoe were very big. They were 8 feet tall. Chyba said the lake moved a lot because of them.
Lake Tahoe is a nice place to visit in the summer. You can go boating there. The lake is in California and Nevada. It is very deep and cold.
We don't know who was on the boat that turned over. We don't know if they rented it or if it was theirs.
The storm on Saturday stopped after two hours.
Brittany Glick was on a boat with friends. They were having a party. The wind started to blow. The waves got big. It was sunny at first. Then it got cold. It was hard to see.
It felt like a very big wave was coming. I never saw anything like it, she said.
The boat came back after one hour. The water was rough and wet. Then it started to hail.
"We were scared when we saw the boats turned over," Glick said. "The water made us very cold. We were shaking a lot. Our feet were cold, and our toes were turning blue. It was a very scary time for me. The storm came very fast. It was very scary."
A video showed boats hitting each other at a port because of strong wind.
