Kilmar Abrego Garcia worked in Maryland. He said he was not guilty of bringing people into the country illegally. This happened in a court in Tennessee. His lawyers said he was sent to El Salvador by mistake in March. They think the charges are to make that mistake look okay. A big court said he must come back. The case started after that. His lawyers said the people who spoke for the government were not telling the truth. They said these people helped the government to get help with their papers. In 2022, police stopped Abrego Garcia's car in Tennessee. He had nine people with him. Police thought he was bringing people into the country illegally. But they let him go with only a warning. Before the court meeting, the government said Abrego Garcia was a bad person. They said he might run away. They said he sold drugs and guns and hurt women. Because of these charges, Ben Schrader left his job. He was a boss at the U.S. Attorney's Office in Tennessee.
