Khaby Lame, the very popular TikTok star with millions of followers, has left the U.S. after being held by immigration officials in Las Vegas. It is believed that he stayed longer than his visa allowed.

Seringe Khabane Lame, an influencer from Senegal and Italy, was held for a short time at Harry Reid International Airport on Friday. However, a spokesperson for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement confirmed that he was allowed to leave the country without being ordered to be deported.

Lame arrived in the U.S. on April 30 and stayed longer than his visa allowed, an ICE spokesperson stated. The Associated Press tried to get a comment by sending a message to the email address on Lame's Instagram account, but they have not received a reply. He has also not spoken publicly about being detained.

His detention and voluntary departure from the U.S. happened during President Donald Trump's increasing efforts to control immigration. This included raids in Los Angeles that caused days of protests against ICE, as the president tried to find out the limits of his executive power.

Lame's voluntary departure allows people who might be deported to avoid having a deportation order on their immigration record. This is important because a deportation order could stop them from returning to the U.S. for as long as ten years.

The 25-year-old ascended to international prominence during the pandemic, amassing over 162 million followers on TikTok. His meteoric rise was predicated on his silent, often bewildered, reactions to convoluted 'life hacks' depicted in his videos.

The influencer, who was born in Senegal, moved to Italy as a baby with his working-class parents and is now an Italian citizen. His fame on the internet grew very quickly. In 2022, he signed a multi-year agreement to work with the designer brand Hugo Boss, and in January, he was named a UNICEF goodwill ambassador.

Subsequent to his recent arrival in the United States, he made a notable appearance at the Met Gala in New York City last month.
