Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem has promised to continue the Trump administration's strict immigration enforcement, even though there are ongoing protests. This happened after a federal judge issued a temporary order saying that sending National Guard troops to protests was illegal. However, the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals then blocked this order. The judge's order only applied to National Guard troops, not Marines, who were sent after protests started because of the immigration crackdown. Governor Gavin Newsom, who wanted an immediate stop to troops helping with immigration raids, praised the judge's order. At the same time, White House spokesperson Anna Kelly defended the president's actions, saying he acted within his legal powers. Protests are still happening across the country, and immigration agents in Los Angeles have created a plan for other areas. Despite this, Noem has confirmed that federal authorities will not give up.
