John Roberts, the main judge, said judges must be free to decide things. He said this helps stop the government and the president from having too much power.

"Judges must be free to make decisions," said Roberts, the main judge of the country, at a meeting of judges and lawyers in his town.

He said the Constitution's only new idea was to have three equal parts of government. He also said this idea only works if the courts are free.

The chief judge, who is 70 years old, mostly said things he had said before. But the people there liked what he said and clapped. He said these things because another judge asked him questions. About 600 people came together to celebrate 125 years of federal courts in Western New York.

When people asked Roberts about Trump and his friends wanting to remove judges because they didn't like their decisions, Roberts said the same thing he said in March: 'You cannot remove a judge just because you don't agree with their decision.'

Roberts also said he will not stop working soon, even though it has been almost 20 years since he joined the most important court in the country.

He came back to the city where he was born a little after Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson said it is wrong to attack judges.

Speaking in Puerto Rico, Jackson said that judges everywhere, and maybe many of the people there, are attacked and not respected every day.

Jackson wrote on the court's website about the attacks. He said it was a big problem that everyone knew about but nobody talked about. He said this during a speech and did not mention Trump.

The president, his helper Stephen Miller, and the rich man Elon Musk were very angry with judges. These judges stopped some of Trump's plans. They sometimes said very personal and mean things about the judges. Trump said one judge was a 'crazy person from the far left'. This judge had stopped people from being sent away for a short time, using an old law from the 1700s.

Someone sent pizzas that nobody wanted to the houses of judges and their children. Some of these pizzas had the name of Daniel Anderl on them. Daniel Anderl was the son of Judge Esther Salas. A lawyer who was angry killed him at his house in 2020.

Senator Dick Durbin wrote a letter. He said these deliveries are threats. They want to show the judge or their family that someone knows where they live.

Trump has mostly not criticized the main court. This court is deciding on some urgent requests because other courts made decisions against him.

The president has had some good and some bad results with the judges. On Tuesday, most of the judges said the government can stop transgender people from being in the army. People are still arguing about this in court. The three judges who did not agree said no.

But the court has also stopped sending some Venezuelans, who they think are gang members, out of the country for a short time. They used an old law from the 18th century to do this. The judges also said that people cannot be sent away without being able to speak against it in court.

Next week, a court will talk about Trump's order. This order is about children born in the US whose parents are not legally in the country. The government wants to use the rules in more places while the court cases are still happening.
