Meta is putting $14.3 billion into Scale, an AI company. Scale's CEO, Alexandr Wang, will also join Meta's special AI team. This is part of Meta's plan to make its AI better and compete with companies like Google and OpenAI. Scale will stay an independent company, but Meta will own 49% of it. This means they will work much more together. Wang will go to Meta with a small team, but he will still be on Scale's board. Jason Droege will be the temporary CEO of Scale. This investment means Scale is worth more than $29 billion. We don't know yet what this deal means for Scale's other customers, like General Motors, Toyota, and some companies that make large language models.
