Elon Musk says Tesla plans to start a robot taxi service in Austin, Texas, around June 22.

Last month, Musk told CNBC that at first, people will watch the taxis from far away. The taxis will only drive in certain safe areas of the city. He said he wants to start with about 10 taxis and then quickly have more. After that, he plans to offer the service in Los Angeles, San Antonio, San Francisco, and other cities.

For ten years, Musk has been saying that self-driving cars will be ready "next year." Now he really needs to make it happen because Tesla is starting a taxi service with these cars. Tesla's car sales have gone down because there is more competition, they changed their popular Model Y car, and because of Musk's focus on politics.
