Amazon has announced the development of a new warehouse robot named Vulcan. This robot is designed with the ability to 'feel' some of the items it handles.
The two-armed Vulcan robot moves things in Amazon's storage areas. It uses sensors to feel when it touches something. One arm moves things around, and the other arm has a camera and a suction cup to pick things up.
Amazon says a robot called Vulcan can pick up things in its warehouses. It learned by feeling how to pick up about 75% of Amazon's items. Amazon says the robot can learn and get better over time. Vulcan is now working in two places, one in the US and one in Germany. So far, it has helped with 500,000 customer orders.
Vulcan is a new robot in Amazon's warehouses. Amazon uses many robots in its storage buildings around the world to prepare customer orders. Some people say Amazon uses robots instead of people, but the company says robots like Vulcan make the warehouses safer.
