Some people think TikTok makes it hard to focus. But many people around the world are watching a live show that is a bit boring. It is from a TV channel in Sweden they probably do not know. Now it is time for the Great Moose Migration.
Every spring for many years, moose have walked across the Ångerman River to find a warmer place for the summer. Since 2019, people all over the world can watch this for three weeks online. A TV channel in Sweden shows a live video of the moose moving. They use more than 30 cameras to see everything that happens slowly.
The livestream usually shows calm scenes of forests and rivers. If you are lucky, you might see a moose walking by. The moose doesn't seem to know it is famous around the world. It is just a moose walking slowly, not worried about anything.
Mostly, the stream is very quiet. Sometimes, you can hear the wind and the birds singing. It's nice, even if you forget it's playing and are surprised by birds far away.
A student from Sweden said: "I feel relaxed, but I'm also thinking, 'Oh, is that a moose? What if there is a moose? I can't go to the toilet!'"
The video stream keeps going even at night because of special cameras that help us see the moose. But the black and white pictures look a bit scary, like a horror movie, not a nature show. Still, seeing a moose is good, even if it looks a bit strange.
Last year, 9 million people watched SVT's stream of moose. This is a good number. For example, Discovery Channel's Shark Week had more than 22 million people watching. But SVT only has 15 people working on the stream. So, 9 million viewers is a very good result for SVT.
These live streams are interesting because they are very different from what we usually see online. On TikTok, you see short videos that are made just for you, so you keep watching. YouTubers edit their videos carefully so we watch for a long time.
But the moose don't need anything from us. They don't know we are here, watching them.
