In 2022, a Google manager said that TikTok was taking over some of Google's main services, like Search and Maps, especially with young people. Now, TikTok is competing with Google in many areas.

TikTok is a main place for Gen Z to search for locations. Last year, they also added a feature where users can take or upload pictures to find similar items on TikTok Shop.

In September 2024, TikTok started letting companies show their ads in search results. They can use keywords for this through "TikTok Search Ads Campaigns."

The company didn't want to comment before we published this. So, we don't know if TikTok will let more people use the review tab. But TechCrunch tested it and saw that the feature only shows up on some videos that have location tags.
