Steve Belichick has resigned from his job.

He was the defensive coordinator at North Carolina.

The school is finishing an investigation into its football program.

He is the son of head coach Bill Belichick.

The school spoke on Thursday.

It said his resignation starts in late October.

That is when his medical leave ends.

The school announced the leave early in preseason camp.

Steve Belichick is the second well-known person to resign during the probe.

General manager Michael Lombardi resigned earlier this month.

The school said some actions showed no respect for Carolina's values and rules of conduct.

It did not say what those actions were.

The school also said the actions were few and not a big problem in the program.

Nate Huff is the lead investigator and an attorney.

He said his team did about 60 interviews.

He said the probe looked into possible drug use, improper relationships and breaking NCAA rules.

Huff said no university or athletics leader ever limited him or told him what to do.

He said his team had full access.

He said Bill Belichick and his staff were available during the season.

Bill Belichick said he believes his program follows the rules completely.

He said everyone, including himself, must do things the right way.

The school said it still supports him and the football program.

UNC said all needed changes are happening now.

It said it considers the investigation finished.

The school would not talk about any person by name.

It said this is because of its policy on workers.
