Paris Saint-Germain beat Arsenal 2-1 to reach the Champions League final. They want to win the trophy this time.
PSG didn't have the ball as much as usual and looked unsure at the start. But they used quick attacks and their goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma helped them win 3-1 overall.
PSG reached the final of the best European football competition for only the second time. They were second five years ago. They did this in the first season after the famous player Kylian Mbappé left for Real Madrid.
Another famous player did not fill the big space left by Mbappé. This was a big change for the club. For more than ten years, the owners spent a lot of money to get famous players like Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Lionel Messi, and Neymar.
The club's new plan helped coach Luis Enrique make a strong and better team. They played some of the best football in Europe.
Enrique said, "From the first day, I said our goal was to work hard to be in a place where we could make history. That is still our goal." He added, "We want to be the first to win the trophy we have waited for a long time." Enrique also said, "This project has changed since last year. I feel good as a coach here because the president gives me the freedom and help to build the team we want. We use players from the market to make a team that gets better every day."
The French team is hoping to win the Champions League for the first time. They will compete against Inter Milan on May 31 in Munich.
PSG president Nasser al-Khelaifi told CBS Sports, "We believe in our coach and our players. Our players are young, good, and they want to win. They play hard for the team, for the shirt, for the city, and for the club. That is the most important thing."
The season is not finished yet. There is still one game left to play.
Inter, who won the European championship three times, beat Barcelona 7-6 over two games in a great semifinal match.
PSG beat Aston Villa, Liverpool, and Arsenal. Last year, they lost to Borussia Dortmund at this stage. In 2020, they lost to Bayern Munich in the final.
PSG scored first after 27 minutes. Arsenal's defense kicked the ball away from a free kick, but it went back to Fabian Ruiz. He hit the ball into the goal.
Achraf Hakimi scored a nice goal in the 72nd minute to make the score 2-0, and then Bukayo Saka scored a goal for the Gunners.
Last week in London, Arsenal started badly and lost 1-0 because they could not deal with PSG's strong play in the middle.
This time, Arsenal attacked 61 times, and Paris Saint-Germain attacked 26 times. This was partly because their player Thomas Partey came back.
The visiting team played well and soon had chances to score. Declan Rice jumped high but missed the header, and Gabriel Martinelli shot, but Donnarumma saved it.
Arsenal were much better than PSG on the sides of the field. They almost scored again after eight minutes. Martin Ødegaard shot the ball hard and low from outside the box. The goalkeeper, Donnarumma, had to make another good save.
PSG had to wait to attack quickly, but they did not get many chances.
The first goal came in the 17th minute. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia had space on the left, moved inside with his right foot, and shot the ball. It hit the post.
Then, PSG did not use a bad pass from William Saliba well. But Désiré Doué shot weakly, and Raya caught the ball easily.
Soon after 60 minutes, Arsenal had another good chance. Saka kicked the ball towards the top corner, but Donnarumma jumped and pushed it away.
Then Vitinha missed a penalty because VAR showed a player touched the ball with his hand. Soon after, PSG scored again. Hakimi kicked the ball into the corner after another player, Ousmane Dembélé, passed it to him.
Arsenal kept trying to score until the end. Saka scored a goal in the 76th minute and made the score closer.
