Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors will not play in the next three games against Minnesota. He has a small injury in his left leg.
The Warriors said Curry will not play for at least a week because of the injury he got on Tuesday night. He had to leave the first game early, but they still won 99-88. Curry scored 13 points in 13 minutes. This helped Golden State get a good lead and win the game at the Timberwolves' home.
Coach Steve Kerr said that in the playoffs every year, teams need to change. This is because of things like the plan for the game, players getting hurt, or different players playing. He said they have changed before and believe they can change again.
Game 2 will be played in Minneapolis on Thursday. The series then moves to San Francisco for Game 3 on Saturday and Game 4 on Monday. Curry might be able to return for Game 5 on May 14th. Conveniently, there are three days off after that before Game 6 on May 18th.
Curry has never had a bad leg injury before, so people don't know how long he will be away. Can the Warriors play well enough without the best 3-point shooter in NBA history until he comes back? It's probably not a good idea for them to hope for that.
Kerr said, "We think our defense is the best, and we have shown this recently."
But this Golden State team is not as good as before.
After winning Game 1, the Warriors were happy because everyone played hard, especially Jimmy Butler, Buddy Hield, and Green. The coach, Kerr, used 12 different players in the game.
Without Curry, Butler will get the ball often, like he did on Tuesday.
Everyone who plays is ready to play well, said Mike Conley. So you need to really focus on the game and the person you are playing against, and what they like to do. Because they are not only looking for Curry. Of course, Buddy and Jimmy will try harder, but they have players who can score points, and they might try to do it together as a team.
