Emily Ratajkowski talked about Blue Origin's space trip for women and said it was "not a success."
The model and actress shared her ideas on TikTok on Monday. She did this after six women, including Katy Perry and Lauren Sánchez, went to space with Jeff Bezos' company.
She said, "That space trip this morning is strange. It's hard to believe. They say they care about the Earth, but they go to space in a ship made by a company that is bad for the planet. Look at the world now. Think about all the money and work used to send these women to space. Why did they do it? What was the reason? It makes me feel very bad. I am very angry about it."
Ratajkowski is not the only person who thinks the new space trip is not good. Olivia Munn also asked why they are going to space this month. She said, "I know this might not be a popular idea, but there are many other important things in the world now. What will you do in space?"
On Tuesday, the actress from 'We Are Your Friends' went back to TikTok. She talked more about her trip with Blue Origin. Film producer Kerianne Flynn, former NASA scientist Aisha Bowe, and scientist Amanda Nguyen were also on the trip. This was the 11th time Blue Origin sent people to space.
Ratajkowski said, 'I think this space trip is confusing for people. They see women and people of color in science and politics, where they haven't been much before, and it looks like things are getting better. But the truth is, a rich man who got his power by using others is taking his girlfriend and some famous women to space for fun. That is not real progress.'
She also said, "It shows that a small group of rich people are going to space to start a new life, but most people on Earth are worried about paying for their homes and food for their children."
Ratajkowski agreed with someone who said, 'Having advantages is not an achievement.' She also said, 'Using people or the Earth in a bad way is not an achievement. And using the advantages you get from this bad behaviour to do something like going to space for a short time is not an achievement.'
She finished by saying, "That's why it feels like The Hunger Games, right? Because I think we need to know what real change is, and what happened yesterday was not like that."
Sánchez and King talked about the criticism on Monday. King said that people who criticize do not understand the situation.
Sánchez also expressed a desire for critics to visit Blue Origin and witness the dedication of the thousands of employees who not only work there but also invest their passion into this project. She emphasized that they are deeply committed to their work and the mission, highlighting its significant importance to them.
