Wall Street stayed near its record high on Tuesday.
Global markets were quiet.
The S&P 500 went down 0.1%.
It was 0.5% below its all-time high from last month.
The Dow Jones fell 295 points, or 0.5%.
The Nasdaq went up 0.3% to its own record.
Stocks went up earlier.
Brent crude briefly fell below $98 a barrel.
Later, oil went back up.
Brent was at $100.23.
That is down from nearly $110 last week.
But it is still much higher than $72 before the war with Iran began.
Prices have moved up and down.
People are not sure when oil can flow freely again from the Middle East.
AutoZone rose 6%.
The company beat profit forecasts.
But its revenue was lower than expected.
CEO Phil Daniele said the auto parts seller had a hard time selling early in the quarter.
But things got better after that.
Thor Industries stock rose 3.7% on a stronger profit.
CEO Bob Martin said expensive fuel, high interest rates and inflation were making it hard for customers to spend.
Strong profit reports have helped push U.S. stocks near record highs.
This happened even with high oil prices and worries about AI stocks.
Analysts expect S&P 500 companies to report nearly 29% growth for the third quarter.
This comes from FactSet.
On Holding jumped 10.7%.
The company set financial goals.
It also approved up to $1 billion in buybacks through 2029.
Oil and gas stocks fell with crude prices.
Banks dropped after the Federal Reserve raised short-term rates last week.
The 10-year Treasury yield edged up to 4.97%.
