Important people from the U.S. and China have agreed to start their trade talks again. They said this after some problems almost stopped the talks.

The announcement was made after two days of talks in London. These talks finished late on Tuesday.

The meetings were about solving problems with selling minerals and technology. These problems had made a recent trade agreement weak. We don't know if they made any progress on the main issue: China sells much more to the US than it buys.

First, we needed to get rid of the bad feelings, and now we can go forward,

Stocks in Asia went up on Wednesday because everyone heard about the deal.

The talks happened after President Trump and China's leader, Xi Jinping, talked on the phone last week to try to make things calmer.

Li Chenggang, a Chinese trade official, said that China and the other country have agreed on a plan. This plan is about how to do what they talked about on the phone and in Geneva. Xinhua News Agency reported this.

We don't have more information right now, like if they will talk again.

Li and Wang Wentao, who is China's commerce minister, were with Vice Premier He Lifeng. They met with Lutnick, Scott Bessent, and Jamieson Greer at Lancaster House. This old building is near Buckingham Palace.

Wendy Cutler, who used to work on trade for the U.S., said that 30 of the 90 days were wasted. These days were for the two sides to try and fix their problems.

In Geneva, countries decided to stop most of their very high taxes on each other for 90 days. These taxes were part of a trade war that made people worried about the economy. Because of this, the World Bank said on Tuesday that the economy in the U.S. and the world will not grow as much as they thought this year.

Cutler, who works at the Asia Society Policy Institute, said that the U.S. and China wasted important time to fix their agreements. He said they only have two months left to talk about problems like unfair trade, making too many products, sending goods through other countries to hide where they came from, and the drug fentanyl.

After their meeting in Geneva, the U.S. and China have argued about advanced computer chips, student visas, and important minerals used in cars and other businesses.

China makes most of the world's rare earths. They might sell more of these materials to other countries. China wants the U.S. to let them use the technology for making good computer chips.

Lutnick said that solving the rare earths problem is an important part of their agreement. He also said that the U.S. will stop some things it did because of this problem, but he didn't say what they were.

He said that when they approve the licenses, our exports will also go down.

Cutler said it would be very unusual for the U.S. to discuss its rules for selling things to other countries. She said China has been saying these rules are a problem for almost 20 years.

She said that because of this, China can now ask to add export controls to future talks.

A court in Washington said on Tuesday that the government can continue to collect extra taxes on products from China and other countries. This is happening while the government tries to change a decision about Trump's trade rules.

Trump said he wants to sell more American products in China, because China makes many things for the world.

Trump said at the White House, "If we don't work with China, maybe we won't do anything. But we want to work with China."
