Warner Bros. Discovery is planning to divide its cable TV business from its streaming service. This will create two separate companies because more people are stopping their cable subscriptions. The streaming and studios company will include HBO, Warner Bros. Television, Warner Bros. films, and DC Studios. The cable company will have CNN, TNT Sports in the U.S., Discovery, and popular free TV channels in Europe. It will also include online products like Discovery+ and Bleacher Report. David Zaslav, the current CEO, will be in charge of the Streaming & Studios company. Gunnar Wiedenfels, the CFO, will become the CEO of the cable company, Global Networks. They expect this separation to be finished by the middle of next year, if the board gives its final approval. This change is happening because cable TV is facing more competition from streaming services and other internet options.
