Warner Bros. Discovery is planning to divide its cable TV channels from its streaming service, creating two separate companies. This decision is a response to more people canceling their cable subscriptions. The streaming and studios company will include popular brands like HBO, HBO Max, Warner Bros. Television, Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group, and DC Studios. The cable company will have CNN, TNT Sports in the U.S., Discovery, and major free TV channels across Europe. It will also offer digital products such as the Discovery+ streaming service and Bleacher Report. David Zaslav, the CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery, will lead the Streaming & Studios company. Gunnar Wiedenfels, the CFO, will become the CEO of the cable-focused company, named Global Networks. This separation is expected to be finished by the middle of next year, if the board gives its final approval. This important change is happening because the cable TV industry is facing increasing pressure from streaming services and different internet plans.
