Warner Bros. Discovery plans to divide its cable TV channels from its streaming service, creating two separate companies. This is happening because more people are stopping their traditional TV subscriptions. The Streaming & Studios company will include HBO, HBO Max, Warner Bros. Television, Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group, and DC Studios. The Global Networks company will be in charge of CNN, TNT Sports in the U.S., Discovery, important free-to-air channels in Europe, and digital products like Discovery+ and Bleacher Report. David Zaslav will be the head of Streaming & Studios, and Gunnar Wiedenfels will become the CEO of Global Networks. This split is expected to be completed by the middle of next year, after the board gives its final approval. This change is happening because the cable industry is facing more competition from streaming services and other internet options.
