In May, people in the US felt more positive about the economy after five months of feeling less positive. The index went up to 98 from 85.7 in April, which was the lowest point since the pandemic began. This change happened because people are now less worried about how President Trump's taxes on imports will affect the economy. However, people's thoughts about their future money, businesses, and jobs are still not very good. This could mean a difficult economic time is coming. The Labor Department said that 177,000 new jobs were created in April, which helped people feel more confident. But, worries about taxes on imports and rising prices were still strong. Despite these worries, people said they planned to spend more money on homes, cars, and holidays.
