Trade rules have changed a lot, and this makes companies worried. Some big shops in the U.S. have already made prices higher, or said they will soon.
Donald Trump put new taxes on things coming from other countries. China did the same. Some taxes are lower now, but many are still there for businesses.
Companies that buy things from other countries have to pay extra money. This makes things cost more for people who buy them in shops. Some people think that new rules about money will help our country. But things we buy come from all over the world. So, experts say that these rules will make many things more expensive.
Some shops and people who buy things know this is real. Some big shops say prices will go up because of trade problems.
Walmart is now on the list. On Thursday, the big shop said prices will go up because of new taxes.
Walmart buys many things in the U.S., but prices at Walmart are going up. They went up a little in April, and more this month. The people at Walmart say prices will go up a lot in June and July when people buy things for school.
John, who works at the company, said that some prices will go up. For example, bananas from Costa Rica will cost more. They cost 50 cents, but now they will cost 54 cents. Also, car seats from China at Walmart may cost $100 more. They cost $350 now.
Rainey said to the AP news: "We want low prices. But we can only do so much. All stores are like this."
Mattel, who makes Barbie and Hot Wheels, said they may need to raise prices to pay for tariffs.
The toy company makes many toys in China. They said prices may go up on May 5. This was before the U.S. and China made a deal to lower taxes for 90 days. But taxes on toys from China are still higher than before.
Mattel said they will make about 500 toys in other countries instead of China this year. Last year, they did this for about 280 toys. For some popular toys, they will use factories in more than one country.
In May, Microsoft made Xbox consoles and controllers more expensive in many countries. For example, the Xbox Series S now costs $379.99 in the U.S. It was $299.99 before. The Xbox Series X now costs $599.99. It was $499.99 before.
Microsoft said it knows these changes are hard. They said this in May. They talked about problems in the market and that making new things costs more.
Microsoft said the price of Xbox will change in Europe, the U.K., and Australia. Prices may also change in other countries. Soon, some new games from Microsoft will cost more, about $80.
Last month, Temu and Shein said prices are going up. They said this is because of changes in world trade.
In late April, prices went up for many things, especially before May 2. A rule about cheap goods from China changed. Shops used this rule for a long time. Now, the U.S. and China made a deal. This helps a little. But these things still cost more. Cheap packages from China now have a tax of 54%. It used to be 120%.
Before this, Temu seemed to stop sending things from China. They used things they already had in America. Temu is owned by PDD Holdings, a Chinese company. Temu still shows many things from local places that have no extra import costs for people in America. Shein, which is in Singapore, says that the price you pay already has tariffs in it, so you don't need to pay more when it comes.
The company Stanley Black & Decker said prices went up in April. They plan to raise prices again in July, August, or September because things cost more.
Donald Allan, Jr. said last month that they are changing their supply chain to deal with tariffs and protect their business.
The company P&G makes things like toothpaste and toilet paper. P&G said prices might go up for shoppers soon. They are trying to pay less for things, but prices may still increase in July.
