Stocks in the U.S. went up a little on Wednesday.
Stock prices went up today. They were down for two days before.
Stock markets went up and down. The Dow went up a lot. People hope the US and China can stop fighting about trade. This fight is bad for the world economy. The US and China put taxes on each other's goods. This could cause problems for everyone.
Important talks started between the US and China.
Sometimes, the US economy changes a lot because of taxes on goods. People are also worried about the future. But the Fed says the economy is doing well now.
Jerome Powell said the bank can wait to change interest rates.
"We don't know many things," Powell said. The Fed is waiting to see what happens with Trump's trade problems and if his taxes on goods will be bad.
This is true because the trade war is changing, Powell said. Now, the US is talking about trade with other countries.
The Fed said taxes on goods can make the economy weaker.
Powell said: "If taxes stay high, prices might go up. Business might slow down. More people might lose jobs."
It is difficult for the Fed to make the economy better.
Big companies in the U.S. make more money than people thought.
Disney's shares went up 10.8%. This is because the company made more money than people thought. Disney also said it will make more money in the future. Also, many new people joined their streaming service.
But companies also say it is hard to know about money in the future because the economy is not sure.
Marvell Technology shares went down 8%. They changed the date of a meeting because they don't know about the economy.
The S&P 500, the Dow Jones, and the Nasdaq went up. It was a good day for them.
After the Fed talked, the money from government bonds went down a little.
