Trump wants to keep some taxes on things from other countries. He thinks the taxes can make a lot of money for the government.

Trump said these taxes are good for the country and can make it rich.

This year, the U.S. government got more money from taxes on things from other countries than last year. These taxes might go up a lot.

To pay back money and lower taxes, Trump's plan needs much more money each year. It must not hurt the country's money system. This is very hard to do.

Countries told the US what they want to talk about for trade.

But other leaders don't know what Trump wants or how to make a deal last.

The Canadian leader talked to Mr. Trump. He said the new deal must be stronger. This is because of the money problem this year.

"Some things must change," Carney said.

High taxes on things from China and the US make talking difficult.

USA and China will talk this weekend in Switzerland to lower problems.

China makes many things. China sells these things to other countries. This can hurt businesses in those countries. The U.S. wants to change this.

China is a big part of this trade problem.

China says the US should talk nicely and stop high taxes to start talks again.

The U.S. should talk to China to fix the problem. They should be friends and help each other.

A reporter asked Trump if he would lower taxes on China. Trump said, "No."

The president said China was wrong. He said China was wrong about who wanted to talk.

Does Congress need to say yes to deals?

It's not always true.

Trump put taxes on many things without Congress. He used a special rule. This made people unhappy and caused trouble.

Before, presidents made small deals with countries like China and Japan.
