China chose a new person to talk about trade with other countries on Wednesday.
The government said Li Chenggang will talk about trade now.
Two big countries put more taxes on things they sell to each other. One country pays much higher taxes on its goods.
On Wednesday, China said its economy grew by 5.4%. This was because of good exports. But experts think the economy will grow less in the next months. This is because of new taxes on goods from China.
China sold many things to other countries. This helped China's economy grow 5% last year. The government wants it to grow about 5% this year too.
China put more tax on things from the US.
Taxes will make China's economy a little bad now, but it will be good later, a spokesperson said.
China is changing people for talks with the U.S. It's not clear why. China says it has other ways to answer the U.S. For example, they can use their big market of 1.4 billion people in China. They can also work more with Europe and countries in the south. But people in China are not buying much. So, it will be hard to replace American buyers.
China also made it harder to send rare earths to other countries. People use rare earths in things like phones and planes.
Before his new job, Li worked for about 4 and a half years as China's ambassador for trade with other countries.
He also worked for China at the UN in Geneva.
He worked for the government. He helped with business rules.
Li studied law in China and economics in Germany.
