King Charles III gave a rare speech to the Canadian Parliament, where he stressed Canada's independence, especially because President Trump had suggested the US might take over Canada. His visit showed that Canada is a separate country and part of the Commonwealth. In his speech, King Charles talked about the important problems and worries Canadians are experiencing in today's uncertain world. He also promised to protect the French language and Quebec's culture, which are very important to Canada's identity. This visit, his first as King, is important because Trump has threatened to put taxes on Canadian products and has criticized Canada's military spending. The speech ended by confirming Canada's independence and announcing that Canada would join the European Union's "REARM Europe" defense project, without mentioning buying anything from the US.
