Egyptian archaeologists in Luxor have discovered three tombs from the New Kingdom period (1550–1070 B.C.) in the Dra Abu al-Naga area. These tombs belonged to important officials. One tomb was for Baki, who managed grain, and another was for "S," who worked at the Temple of Amun and as a writer. The third tomb belonged to Amum-em-Ipet, who worked for Amun's estate, but it was mostly damaged. However, some pictures showing funeral scenes and a banquet were still found. The ministry released photos of the items and statues found in the tombs. This discovery happened before the Grand Egyptian Museum opens this summer, which will show over 100,000 ancient Egyptian artifacts. The Minister of Tourism, Sherif Fathi, said this find is a major achievement for archaeology and will likely help cultural tourism grow.
