Egyptian archaeologists have found three tombs from the New Kingdom period (1550–1070 B.C.) in the Dra Abu al-Naga necropolis in Luxor. These tombs, which have inscriptions detailing their owners, belonged to important officials. One was Baki, who supervised the grain silo, and another was "S," who had various roles like supervising the Temple of Amun and being a writer. The third tomb belonged to Amum-em-Ipet, a worker for Amun's estate. Although his tomb was mostly destroyed, parts of images showing people carrying funeral furniture and a banquet were discovered. The ministry released pictures of the artifacts and statues found in the tombs. This discovery comes before the Grand Egyptian Museum fully opens this summer. The museum will display over 100,000 artifacts from Egypt's rich ancient history. Sherif Fathi, the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, said the discovery is a significant scientific and archaeological achievement that will likely boost cultural tourism.
